This month at nursery, garden play seems to be the subject on everyone's lips. Having recently been awarded a grant to renovate our outside area, we're all thinking about how to put 'free flow' between indoors and outdoors into practice.
A problem occurred when one parent was not keen on the idea of the children choosing to be outside 'whatever the weather'. In her opinion, the children should be kept in the warm indoors and not allowed to play out if it was raining. We explained that while we may choose to stay inside if there was thunder and lightning, a bit of drizzle wouldn't harm the children and actually provided a wonderful sensory experience for them.
