Work matters: Personal Development - Be a team player

Management
The values common to successful teams can be fostered when individuals take responsibility for their efforts, says Tina Jefferies.

To be an effective team player you need to develop personal qualities, as well as be involved in shared group performance. By perfecting your own unique set of skills, knowledge and personal qualities, you can make a significant contribution to the whole team and reap satisfaction for your effort. Committing to your own development will give you motivation, and help you become a good role model.

Take responsibility for the position you 'play' and, likewise, respect those of others.
