2.6m is up for bids from small local groups

Playgroups and other community projects in Wales have been invited to bid for a share of almost 2.6m in cash from a joint lottery funding programme. The Awards for All scheme will make awards to groups of between 500 and 5,000. The initiative was launched last week by Jenny Randerson, minister for culture, sport and the Welsh language, who said, 'This will give small local groups the opportunity to access lottery funding far more easily than in the past.' She said it would target black and ethnic minority communities, disabled people and those who find it difficult to participate in community activities.

Applications are invited from small locally-run groups without large incomes or savings, new groups that have not received lottery funding before, and groups in areas of multiple deprivation.
