A life with children

I read Nursery World's 75th birthday edition celebratory supplement (30 November) with great interest and nostalgia. I trained in a residential nursery from 1952 to 1955 and qualified in 1954 (certificate 12927). Since then I have worked in a nursery school and a cr che. I have fostered, and had four children - and now seven grandchildren. I run two playgroups and am still working with our local rising-fives group.

It is wonderful being with the children and the new generation of carers who believe, like me, that the most important people in the world are those of nursery age.
