This informative, easy-to-read book provides step-by-step guidance on how to make your pre-school setting inclusive.

It includes a CD-Rom containing electronic versions of the many examples of policies and recording formats in the book, that can be personalised to suit individual settings.

I really liked the way the book is set out with hands-on activities, checklists, discussion points and further reading after each chapter.

The book starts off by setting the scene, and asks the reader to audit and score how inclusive their setting is and write an action plan to develop their inclusive practice.

I enjoyed reading the chapters on creating inclusive environments and inclusive opportunities. The ideas to try are attractively presented and cover admissions, accessibility, flooring, lighting, storage, playing out, personal care and health care plans, accessing training, and involving parents. 'Playing and learning' follows the same format and is full of brilliant suggestions and practical ideas to ensure all children can play and learn together.

Planning to meet individual needs using Birth to Three Matters and the Foundation Stage includes a useful case study showing how the enclosed proformas can be used.

I will be recommending this book to early years practitioners and colleagues.
