A series of consultation events on children's play are being staged around England by the Department for Education and Skills and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. The events in Halifax (7 February), Sunderland (10), Preston (14), Wolverhampton (17), Nottingham (25), Slough (27), Taunton (4 March), Cambridge (6) and London (7) are part of the Children's Play Review Consultation, which will inform a major National Lottery funding programme through the New Opportunities Fund. The aim is to gather the views of parents, carers and children, and to discuss the proposed funding programme for children's play. The Scottish Executive, the Welsh Assembly and the Northern Ireland Office will be holding separate consultation events.
