Accent is on language learning

Dawn McCrone, a graduate in French and Russian, said, 'The real window of opportunity for language learning is between birth and 12. Even limited exposure at an early age has long-term advantages for the child in all future language learning. Research shows that early language learning can boost vocabulary and self-esteem, and stimulates greater problem-solving skills and creativity. Higher attainment in reading, maths, science and geography has been recorded in some studies.'

Dawn and her husband Jim gave up careers in the IT and electronics sectors to launch their business with support from Scottish Enterprise Renfrewshire, and run it from their home in Bishopton. Ms McCrone came up with the idea when she was having difficulty finding suitable language resources to use with her own children.
