An evaluation report of the Sure

Start Plus pilot programme has been published by the Institute of Education. The programme aims to reduce the risk of long-term social exclusion for teenage parents and the pilot is based in 20 Health Action Zones, selected for high rates of teenage pregnancy. More than 4,000 pregnant teenagers and teenage mothers took part in the pilot, which offers one-to-one support with personal advisers and a range of services tailored to local needs. For more information, telephone the DfES on 0870 000 2288. The report can be downloaded from the website www.ioe.ac.uk/ssru.
