Apprenticeship taster launches

Careers & Training
Birmingham-based Employment Needs Training Agency and Crackerjack Training have joined forces to offer a pre-apprenticeship training course for 16- to 18-year-olds.

Caring for Children is intended as a stepping stone to a full apprenticeship and early years career. Six students who signed up for the foundation course last November have now gone on to start a Level 2 qualification, and a seventh has already secured a nursery position.

ENTA is a community interest company that runs a range of social enterprises, including the Lakeside Children's and Family Learning Centre in Kingstanding. It provides courses and support to help people into work. Crackerjack Training holds apprenticeship contracts with the Birmingham and Solihull LSC and also delivers vocational and management qualifications to local people.
