Attention to detail

I am an agency nursery nurse who works in many different settings. One of the first things I always ask about in a setting is allergies and special needs. Then I look at the noticeboards to see what is written up about this. I feel that sometimes the people who work in nurseries every day and know these small but very important details do not spend enough time going over them. But I must emphasise to all agency staff that they keep badgering if they are unsure about which children have allergies. When I am dishing out food to small children I double-check as to who cannot have cheese, milk, wheat, and so on.

So please agency or new nursery nurses, ask and ask again. It is so important.
