Budget Measures

Plans to increase child tax credits by 4 a week for parents of oneand two-year-olds from 2012 were revealed in last week's Budget.

Chancellor Alistair Darling reassured families that child tax creditswill be available for all who need them, whether parents are married,living together or apart. He also said spending on Sure Start Children'sCentres would rise in line with inflation. Other Budget measures includeproviding 9.4bn in new business loans, with nearly half to smalland medium-sized businesses over the next year and increasing theNational Minimum Wage by 2.2 per cent to 5.93 in October2010.
