Building ideas for children aired at the House

The importance of good architectural design in buildings for young children was highlighted at a reception at the House of Commons this month. The occasion was the launch of a book, Building for Young Children - A Guide to planning, designing and creating the perfect space, written by architect Mark Dudek and produced by the National Early Years Network as part of a project on good design for young children, with support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Phil Hope, MP for Corby, said, 'The current capital development programme of publicly-funded provision, such as the Sure Start, Neighbourhood Nurseries and Early Excellence Centre initiatives, opens up exciting design opportunities for the 21st century. To benefit young children these projects require informed and inspired cross-professional working which will be promoted by this guide.'
