Call for TB jabs for all London babies

Babies born in London should be vaccinated against tuberculosis to protect them from the growing threat of the disease, health experts have warned.

The Health Protection Agency says that around 45 per cent of all childhood TB cases in the UK occur in the capital and the rise has now passed the threshold where immunisation should be introduced. The TB vaccination is currently only offered to babies who were born abroad or whose parents were born abroad.
