Child health: Be healthy and happy with sport stars

Nursery World has joined forces with the National Day Nurseries Association for the 2008 'Healthy Body, Happy Me' campaign, backed by sport stars Linford Christie and Colin Jackson (picutred).

The campaign, with an awareness week from 10-14 March, urges nurseriesto help children discover the benefits of healthy lifestyles through funactivities and menus.

Linford Christie OBE said, 'If children can be encouraged to enjoysports from an early age, then it is likely that they will continue tomake the right choices as they get older.'

The initiative was launched by the NDNA last year (News, 15 March). AllNDNA member nurseries will receive a support pack full of activityideas, a wall chart, seeds and balloons.

Purnima Tanuku, chief executive of the NDNA, said, 'The packs includelots of resources, including seeds for the seed-to-snack day, anddisplay materials and should really help our members get fully involvedin the campaign.'
