Childcare charity saved from closure

Provision Funding
The future of a children’s charity has been secured thanks to a rescue plan to save the service.

Direct Childcare, which provides childcare to more than 100 children in the Highlands and Moray, announced in December that it was being forced to close after funding was cut by Highland Council.

However, a rescue package provided by One Parent Families Scotland through its flexible childcare service will allow Direct Childcare to continue its work and will secure the jobs of the charity’s eight contracted staff members and 40 casual workers.

The two groups plan to work together on a plan to ensure the long-term viability of the Direct Childcare service.

One Parent Families Scotland (OPFS) has provided services to support single parent families since it was established in 1944.
