The competition, organised by the national agency Children in Scotland, attracted 450 entrants up to the age of 16 who had been invited to design a space for learning fit for the 21st century.

Their suggestions ranged from a school located at sea, classroom chairs that fold down into beds, onsite Jacuzzis and a mini rainforest located in the grounds of the school.
