The Men in the Early Years North conference on 18 July aims to highlight questions around gender imbalance in the early years workforce, as well as a growing need for positive male role models as childcare practitioners.
The event will offer delegates a variety of workshops encouraging the development of national and international networks for men in early years, and will feature a number of speakers who share an interest in the role men play in the early years sector, and the importance of engaging fathers in their child’s development.
Speakers include Dr. Anette Hellman, senior lecturer in Early Education at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and Yuwei Xu, lecturer in Children and Family Studies at Portsmouth University.
Jonathan Douglas, director of the National Literacy Trust, will chair the conference.
The conference is a collaboration between the National Literacy Trust, the Fatherhood Institute, the Bradford Birth to 19 Teaching School Alliance and St. Edmund’s Nursery School and Children’s Centre Services, with support from Bradford Council and the Media Museum.
