Consultancy role for chain founder

Tom Shea, the founder of Jigsaw nursery group who stepped down as chief executive last year, has launched a new venture - a childcare consultancy. Childcare Innovations Partnership (CIP), based in Northampton, will provide guidance and expertise on all childcare issues. It has already been commissioned to develop support for a group of 'not for profit' nurseries, looking at how childcarers can concentrate on children rather than routines and administration.

It has already been commissioned to develop support for a group of 'not for profit' nurseries, looking at how childcarers can concentrate on children rather than routines and administration.

Mr Shea (pictured) says he believes that CIP's services will be of interest to a broad range of organisations, including trade unions, local authorities, early years development and childcare partnerships, employers, private providers and the Government.

He is joined this month by a founder partner, Jacqui Smith, who was sales manager of ICI before joining Jigsaw in 1996 as a unit manager, going on to become corporate relations manager. Mr Shea envisages that other partners will join as the need and opportunities arise.
