Co-operative Childcare is a three-way partnership with Co-operative UK, Co-operative Solutions and Social Enterprise London and is funded by Co-operative Action until December 2006.
Angela Gibbons, project co-ordinator at Co-operative Childcare, said the service would help existing and prospective co-operatives with business planning, legal structures and finance arrangements. It will develop model rules to make their registration process easier, as currently there is no separate form of legal structure in place.
Ms Gibbons said, 'Co-operative Childcare is there to grow the co-operative childcare sector by offering business support. We expect to be supporting a wide range of new childcare options including full-day care, after- school clubs, creches and childminder co-operatives.
