CWDC embraces all

I am sorry Ginny Taylor feels that we have snubbed the private sector (Letters, 9 June), but we have tried hard to include all sectors in our early years work. In terms of the 'consultation process' for training providers, CWDC is working to extremely tight timescales during phase one and we needed to ensure appropriate organisations were in place ready for the programme to start in September 2006. Training providers for this period were selected for their ability to ensure national and regional coverage. In addition, the list does not consist 'mostly of universities with no private sector listing' - it includes an awarding body, a private training provider, a voluntary organisation and a range of partnership arrangements.

The private sector is a key audience for CWDC, as it makes up a large part of the sector EYP status will help. The consultation process for the standards for the status have been open for many weeks so that early years practitioners can get involved in developing EYP status.
