(Photograph) - David Bell is set to become the next Chief Inspector of Schools in England, replacing Mike Tomlinson, who retires in April. Mr Bell is currently chief executive of Bedfordshire County Council. He began his career as a primary school teacher in Glasgow before moving on to become a deputy head, then a head in Essex, then assistant director of education at Newcastle City Council.
