Deal us another

I was overjoyed to read the news story 'Unique deal for nursery nurses in Nottinghamshire' (24 May). This will finally recognise nursery nurses for the professionals they are and give them a career structure that will pay in line with their responsibilities, skills and commitment. Living in a small village in Wales I would like to know if Unison will also be fighting for other NNEBs like myself in this and other areas to be able to benefit from the pay scale increase. In February I wrote about the decrease in pay due to education policies on starting new employment, so it's about time that the matter was addressed and not just brushed under the carpet.

Good on you, Unison, and congratulations to all the NNEBs in Nottinghamshire. Here's hoping all the other local education authorities will follow suit.
