Diabetes worries

A study to examine how families' fear of diabetes affects children with the condition is to be carried out by researchers at Warwick University on behalf of Diabetes UK.

They will examine the prevalence of fear of hypoglycaemia in a cohort ofchildren and young people and their parents. Research from Norwaypublished in the journal Diabetic Medicine this month found that parentswho showed high levels of emotional stress resulting from their fear ofhypoglycaemia had children with higher blood glucose levels, and thatmothers of children with diabetes had higher levels of fear thanfathers.
