Prime minister Gordon Brown, education secretary Ed Balls and children's minister Beverley Hughes met children's centre professionals at a 10 Downing Street reception last week, to celebrate the opening of the 3,000th centre and to thank guests for their pioneering work and contribution to delivering the children's centre agenda and tackling child poverty.
