Editor's letter

Through the best of children's literature, young children can explore new ideas, develop their skills and follow their interests. To show the potential of good children's stories in promoting and consolidating children's learning across the Foundation Stage curriculum, we have based this issue of Nursery Topics on four stories by celebrated children's author and illustrator Mick Inkpen. For years now, Mick Inkpen's most famous creations have entertained children across the globe. Some of his favourite characters feature in our special alphabet poster, based on the story, Kipper's A to Z. And we have great reader prize draws, worth over Pounds 300.
