Calling all early years and childcare tutors! If you have a student who deserves special recognition for their achievements, then you really should enter them for the Heinemann and Nursery World Childcare Student of the Year Award 2007. You'll find a nomination form enclosed with this week's issue of Nursery World, and you can download further copies from www.harcourt.co.uk/childcareform. In previous years, the award has gone to students with the potential to be fantastic practitioners, including last year's first male winner Jamie Lee-Coldham from Blackpool and the Fylde College. The selection and judging process is always very exciting, with the entrants being whittled down to four finalists who present case studies during a judging day. You can read about Jamie-Lee and see an example of a successful nomination form at www.harcourt.co.uk/childcareaward.

There are some great prizes on offer - 300 and a year's free subscription to Nursery World for the winner, 300 of Heinemann vouchers for the winning college, and cash and vouchers for the runners-up and their colleges, in addition to the chance to promote childcare as a wonderful profession. With training and workforce development more important than ever in the early years sector, Nursery World is delighted to be involved with this award again.
