Every Child Matters

The workings of local education authorities after implementing the Green Paper Every Child Matters are up for discussion in a series of four workshops next month, organised by the Institute of Public Finance. The IPF says the Green Paper's introduction will entail a major shake-up for education authorities. The workshops will draw on the experiences of local authorities which have already made significant progress in constructing multi-agency teams. Shane Flynn, adviser to the IPF's education forum, said many local authorities were 'only just beginning to explore the detailed implications for those working in social services and education departments'. He added, 'Education authorities also need to work out what arrangements should be developed around joint funding, and what are the key areas that need focusing on in order to have the right components in place when the legislation is brought forward.' The workshops are in York on 10 March, London on 16 March, Bristol on 23 March and Stratford-Upon-Avon on 24 March.
