Excessive briefing

Like other private nursery providers in Kent, we are very angry about the conditions we are required to sign up to. Why is Kent so different in its approach to other local authorities? We suspect it is a money-saving exercise, forcing private providers to pull out of the free education grant. We attended the recent briefing by five senior staff from Kent County Council. We would like to know how much it cost them to hire the venues and send so many staff to a two-hour briefing that could have been done by e-mail or letter. On second thoughts, anyone who reads the letters emanating from Kent's County Hall (and numerous questionnaires asking the same questions) will know that what can be said in one paragraph on the grant, usually runs to three or four pages.
