I live in South Africa and would love to work as a nanny in the UK. But South Africa does not offer a NNEB or similar qualification, and there are relatively few opportunities to be a nanny here. I feel a little disenchanted at the moment. All I have ever wanted to do was look after babies and children. Working in a nursery or in daycare just isn't the same. I love the one-to-one relationship a nanny has with children.

I have started a teaching degree and hope I can work while I study, and eventually work as a nanny in the UK. Since I don't have any formal nanny qualification (and won't), I don't think it would be fair to restrict the registration of nannies to having certain qualifications, such as NNEB or BTec. These qualifications are not offered outside the UK. So, if a nanny register is put into action, it should accept different countries'
