EYP Update: Audit tool is one-stop shop

Careers & Training
The Early Years Workforce Qualifications Audit Tool was set up so registered settings could store staff information, record qualifications that staff hold or are working towards and their additional training achievements.

Latest figures show the Tool is currently being used by 2,400 settings and 12,500 employees. A total of 128 local authorities have implemented it. This reflects steady progress since the Tool went live last August.

Thom Crabbe says, 'When it was launched there was a range of responses and we have tried to listen and evolve a positive approach. We are explaining the thinking behind it and benefits for training and staff retention.'

CWDC has also been clarifying where it stands on the sharing of information from the Audit Tool. Local authority staff (usually from the early years or childcare services) are able to view data but cannot access individual profiles of all people. They can, however, use aggregated data to generate local reports. CWDC can see all setting records and produce reports at a local, regional and national level.
