Give staff regular feedback of the right kind * Positive feedback involves praise and a celebration of people's strengths and achievement. It is the easiest feedback to give, but in many places it is not given often enough.

* Negative feedback involves commenting on problems and areas for improvement. It is more difficult to give, but is a source of motivation and challenge if done well.

* Constructive feedback combines positive and negative feedback, with a supportive emphasis on how to deal with the difficult issues.

* Destructive feedback is purely critical. It is unhelpful and demotivating and does more harm than good. Avoid it.
