*Adults' white socks *brightly coloured children's socks *buttons *ribbon *small pom-poms *cushion stuffing *scissors *PVA glue and permanent markers Step by step

* Give each child a white adult-sized sock and a coloured child- sized sock.

* Stuff the foot portion of the adult's sock with cushion stuffing.

* Cut the rest of the sock off from the heel up.

* Tie a knot at the open end of the sock so that the stuffing is secured.

* Tie a ribbon tightly around the stuffed sock about a third of the way down. As well as being a scarf, this will help to keep the snowman's head separate from its body.

* Pull the young child's sock over the tied end of the adult's sock to make the snowman's hat.

* Glue the pom-poms or buttons down the front of the snowman.

* Use permanent felt-tip markers to make the snowman's nose, eyes and mouth.
