Force-feeding goes to court

A nursery worker forced back children's heads in order to make them eat food, a court in Scotland heard last week.

Gillian Gold is accused of force-feeding children at Country KidsNursery in West Linton, where she was deputy manager for two and a halfyears (News, 20 March). Peebles Sheriff Court heard from former nurseryworker Caroline Hall that a baby 'was sick all over the place' afterhaving milk poured into its mouth. Another worker, Nicola Hogg, claimedthat Ms Gold restrained children and caused children to choke. Ms Gold,who described the whole situation as 'grossly exaggerated', was chargedafter the Care Commission passed investigation details to the police.The trial has been adjourned until next month.
