Gene identified

A gene that is strongly associated with an increased risk of childhood asthma has been identified by scientists.

An international research team, writing in the journal Nature, foundthat inheriting the gene raises the risk of developing asthma by between60 and 70 per cent. They hope the discovery will pave the way for newtreatments.
