The see-saw is a firm favourite with children, and can be used to extend their learning in the area of knowledge and understanding of the world. Start your project with a trip to the park to observe and enjoy some see-saw rides.

To show an interest in why things happen and how things work. Adult:child ratio 2:4

* If the children are unfamiliar with the see-saw, check they know how to sit on it properly and use it. If necessary, demonstrate to older children how to push off the ground in turn. Share the ride with younger children, who may lack the strength and co-ordination to use the see-saw on their own.
