Hospital play specialists were lauded for their efforts in working with sick children

* Hospital play specialists were lauded for their efforts in working with sick children at an awards ceremony in December. The Ray of Sunshine children's charity and the National Association of Hospital Play Staff gave the awards to celebrate the work of play specialists in transforming children's experiences as patients in hospital. Keren Brooke from Ipswich was named overall Play Specialist of the Year, and Judy Walker from London was honoured as Distinguished Play Specialist of the Year. * A rooftop playground is to be added to an infant's school in Chadwell Heath, Essex, as part of its 1.7m transition into a children's centre. The school will also benefit from a new hall with four classrooms built on top. The playground area is to be fenced with wooden canes to be both safe and natural in appearance.
