I enjoy my work because my employers demonstrate trust in my abilities to manage my branch. I am treated as a manager and not a glorified supervisor who has no real authority.
I am able to make my own decisions. I can recruit staff without having to ask permission. I make investment decisions for my branch and have my own chequebook. Naturally I have to be able to justify the decisions I make.
There is strong teamwork between branches, and we are encouraged to interact in order to inspire and support others.
If any of the managers have a problem or a difficult decision to make, the directors always allot time to listen. But they expect us to propose solutions for discussion and not to simply call up with a problem, expecting someone at head office to sort it out.
