In brief: Parents unaware of cot death risk caused by smoking

Up to 70 per cent of parents are unaware of the risk of cot death caused by smoking in the home, according to a poll by the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths. A baby who regularly spends just one hour a day in a smoky environment is twice as likely to die from cot death as a baby who lives in a smoke-free home, says FSID.
