ABC Nurseries, based in Dumfries and Ecclefechan, has become the first nursery in the region to gain the Investors in People award, taking only six months to win the distinction. The nursery employs 24 staff, four of whom have gained SVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education: Special Needs. Three more staff members are working on their Level 2 qualifications in Childcare and Education. Joint proprietor Ann McEwan said, 'The development of our staff is of paramount importance to the success of our business in ensuring the reputation of quality childcare provision.'
