In brief...Young fathers are to be given to bond with their children

Young fathers are to be given help to bond with their children and improve their parenting skills under a 300,000 Government scheme. Home secretary David Blunkett said the scheme - announced during Parents' Week (22-28 October) - would help 250 fathers aged 25 or under in five projects. The funding, part of the Family Support Grant, will offer support to develop childcare skills, personal relationships and general life skills. Projects will be set up in Sheffield, Norwich, Newcastle, one in the south, and one in the Midlands overseen by the national Community Education Development Centre.
