Charity Inclusive Books for Children (IBC) has revealed its new panel of judges for their annual awards.

The IBC Awards recognise the best new inclusive books published in the UK across three age categories – Baby and Toddler (ages one-to-three), Picture Books (ages three-to-seven), and Children’s Fiction (ages five-to-nine). The winning book in each category receives a prize of £10,000.

The judges for the 2025 award include former children’s laureate Joseph Coelho, poet and author Jen Campbell, illustrator David Roberst, headteacher Sonia Thompson and the director of the training consultancy, The Black Nursery Manager, Liz Pemberton.

Joseph Coelho said, ‘I am so excited to be a judge for the IBC Awards. In highlighting brilliant books by a range of fantastic authors and illustrators IBC are helping young people see themselves and each other.’

Judge and writer Cathy Reay said, ‘I’m thrilled to be on the judging panel for the IBC Awards 2025. While there is more diversity in children’s book publishing than ever before, it still remains extremely important to champion those incredibly important titles that have been and continue to be overlooked and underappreciated. I look forward to celebrating some of the books that have really excited us this year.’
