Launch of Parent Know How programme

Parents will be able to access information about their child's progress at school by telephone, text message and e-mail, following last week's launch of a 44m scheme by the Government.

The Parent Know How programme will focus mostly on helping parents ofdisabled children and teenagers and fathers from all backgrounds.Children's secretary Ed Balls released a study showing that 65 per centof parents want to get more involved in their child's education and mostwant informal discussions with teachers rather than traditional parents'evenings.
