Leave the car at home

If you drive to visit or work in London you're probably fed up with the hassles of congestion charging and controlled parking zones. If you're not yet fed up enough, the Mayor of London's office is aiming to make public transport even more attractive to those with children in tow by bringing in free travel options. From January, all children aged under 11 will be able to travel free on London's buses, and at weekends one adult will be able to take up to four children for free on the Tube and all public transport in the capital. Perhaps this will help soften the blow of a hike in fares generally for passengers paying in cash. It might also come into the bargaining between nanny and employer over car use.
