One of Ms Sharp's first tasks will be to steer the organisation through the process of being accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority to deliver SVQ training in early years care and education. The training will be co-ordinated from SINA's headquarters and will be open to practitioners in local authority nurseries and the voluntary sector as well as staff from independent nurseries.
Ms Sharp, who was formerly a senior lecturer in childcare and education at the Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, has joined SINA as its Early Years Executive. As well as the SVQ training, she will be co-ordinating a programme of in-service training for early years workers in all sectors and has put together a panel of 30 experts in different areas, including dance and art specialists, to deliver it. She also hopes to develop national and international conferences on matters relating to early years.
