STAR LETTER - TOO SOON FOR SCHOOL

More children than ever are leaving our setting this summer to startschool or school nursery in September, due to the new single point ofadmission for all schools in our area. While single admission is helpfulas far as administration and transition arrangements are concerned, weare struggling to cope with parents' anxieties about not getting theirchosen schools and starting school earlier.

Parents' appeals for school places are still going on and with justthree weeks left until the end of term, many families do not know wheretheir child will be going in September - and will have missed schoolinductions as a result.

While many parents are confident that their children will do well in aschool environment, some are not, and in most of these cases we haveconcerns for the wellbeing of those children through their transitionand on into school.
