Letters: A trade body's duty

The recent debate over establishing a new trade body for the private day nursery sector seems to have taken a breather from Nursery World's pages, so please allow me to commence round two.

The National Day Nurseries Association is fundamentally conflicted inits interests and, I believe, not able to achieve the results requiredby the private sector. This is an institutional flaw and one that is notgoing to change in the future.

As an example, I asked the NDNA recently what they had achieved inresolving the ludicrous disparities that exist regarding business ratesand nurseries. I was given the answer, 'Oh, we've been campaigning onthis issue for the last seven years but haven't managed to changeanything.' Seven years? The definition of insanity is doing the samething over and over again and expecting to get a different result!
