Listen Up

A multimedia pack to enable disabled people to make complaints about the services they use has been launched by the mental health charity Mencap. The pack, Listen Up, includes posters, complaints cards and a board game for children, as well as a training video and workbook for staff and a leaflet about complaints for parents. There is also a CD-Rom of extra resources to help parents and staff customise any of the products for individual children. Mencap chief executive Jo Williams said, 'Despite the introduction of complaints procedures for children, they are often not accessible for the disabled. Children with severe learning disabilities do not want to risk services being taken away from them.' The pack has been funded with money from the Community Fund and is free from the Learning Disability Helpline on 0808 808 1111.
