Dumbo the elephant crawls down a multi-coloured parachute at Ellergreen Early Years Centre in Norris Green, Liverpool, where children dressed up as their favourite characters from stories and films to mark the city's 800th anniversary. Almost 25,000 pupils between four and 11 took part in the birthday occasion, also wearing historical costumes and staging celebratory parties.
