A reader, Judy Witherspoon, writes in to say she's found a great website for nannies on the internet that she's used for arts and craft activities, at www.verybestkids.com. However, a look at this site reveals that it's run by the food company Nestle, which for years has been in hot water with ethics campaigners for promoting formula baby milk over breastfeeding in Third World countries, and recently has been in the news for demanding a huge debt repayment from the starving Ethiopians. All the recipes on this site use, you guessed it, Nestle products. Do nannies use the net? Or do you feel you have better things to do with your time than look at a computer? Do you worry about children seeing unsuitable, adult material? Please let Professional Nanny know what you think about using the computer as a work or social tool, and share the names of any favourite websites with us.
