Lunch at Elmscot Day Nursery

Lunch at Elmscot Day Nursery in Altrincham is both delicious and nutritious, with menus ranging from a mouth-watering creamy salmon and broccoli with leeks and pasta shapes to Moroccan lamb with apricot cous-cous. The Cheshire-based private day nursery recently won an award in recognition of the quality of its catering from the Heartbeat Scheme, which is supported by the Health Education Council and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. The scheme encourages settings providing food to excel in their standards of staff training and kitchen hygiene, and recognises providers who promote healthy eating. Elmscot's chef, Paula Sievey, said, 'It has always been our aim to provide food to our children that we can be proud of. We believe that children have the same rights as adults to a healthy, interesting and varied diet, and as our children are too young to choose for themselves, it is our responsibility to choose well for them.'
